In its permanent exhibition the Willy Brandt House presents the life and legacy of the Federal Chancellor, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and son of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. You can explore the 20th century by following his trail through seven rooms, from the Weimar Republic to the reunification of Germany. Besides his biography the exhibition focuses on the topics of democracy, human rights and peace. Since September 2007 the Willy Brandt House Lübeck is the Lübeck branch office of the Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt Foundation (Berlin). It is thus the third site of learning, after the Buddenbrook House (Heinrich and Thomas Mann Centre) and the Günter Grass House, to be devoted to a Lübeck Nobel laureate.
The Willy-Brandt-Haus and the Günter-Grass-Haus are joined by a garden. Therefore visitors only need to make a few steps to get from one museum to the other.

Here you can experience history in a playful way. Photos, letters, documents, speech manuscripts etc. are embedded into exciting scene stagings where many installations invite visitors to become active themselves. Films, interactive multimedia stations and many other things offer a fascinating tour through history.
Differentiated according to school type, grade and subject the Willy Brandt House offers guided tours on special topics, especially on the history of the 20th century, understanding of democracy, human rights education and media literacy. In addition, there is a modern seminar room which you can use for preparations or revisions of guided tours, for discussions or the presentation of films.

The house has barrier - free access. Users of wheelchairs with a total weight over 150 kg will be assisted with changing into a lighter wheelchair.

By bus from the central station with bus numbers 1, 11, 21, 31 and 34, from the Stadthalle with bus numbers 4 and 32, getting off at bus stop “Katharineum” (50 m walk), and from the Burgtor with all numbers except number 10, stopping at “Koberg” (100 m).

If coming by car, it is best to park at the canal (follow traffic sign: Parkplätze Ost) and walk up Glockengiesserstrasse (500 m), since there is no possibility of parking directly at the house.
