In Friedrichsruh, Imperial Chancellor Fürst Otto von Bismarck (born 1.4.1815) lived from 1871 until his death in 1898. The museum in the ‘Alte Landhaus’ (Old Country House) in Friedrichsruh, which is a district of Aumühle, serves as a memorial of Imperial Chancellor Otto von Bismarck and as commemoration of his political work. The collection comprises letters, manuscripts, documents and honorary citizen certificates as well as cassettes, caskets, precious chinaware, gifts from all over the world, paintings by Franz von Lenbach and the ‘Kaiserproklamation von Versailles 1871’ (Emperor Proclamation in Versailles in 1871) by Anton von Werner. These paintings and a number of photographs give an idea of the Bismarck era. In addition, the furnishings from Fürst Bismarck’s study can be visited in their original combination.
