The Kellinghusen town museum is dedicated to the important ceramics tradition of the town. The emphasis of the collections is put on the Kellinghusen faïence, which was produced in the 18th and 19th century. Six workshops can be traced in Kellinghusen between 1765 and 1860. The Kellinghusen faïence especially became famous with plates that show a floral pattern on a bright yellow rim and a colourful bunch of flowers in the centre. In addition to those characteristic objects of the Kellinghusen faïence series the museum presents selected individual pieces as well.Changing exhibitions on arts and crafts and cultural history are shown on the gallery of the museum. thematic focus: Arts and crafts, History, Folklore Adults 2,- €, reduced 1,- €, School classes per person 0,25 € (guided tour included), groups (more than 10 pers.)per person 1,- € guided tour (by appointment) 8,- € plus admission fee there are several restaurants in the close vicinity of the museum Museum leaflet Exhibition catalogues Hans-Georg Bluhm: Fayencen aus Kellinghusen, 2006, 84 S., € 11,95 Since 1 September 2007 the registered association "Keramik Centrum Kellinghusen e.V." sells high-quality international ceramics from 14 workshops in a gallery that has been specially established within the City Museum Kellinghusen. About 100 vessel ceramics and objects in a price range between 24,- and 680,- EURO are offered on an area of about 35 qm. The sale is done on commission within the opening hours of the museum. 30 percent of the proceeds go to the registered association "Keramik Centrum Kellinghusen e.V.". In cooperation with the the City of Kellinghusen the registered association "Keramik Centrum Kellinghusen e.V." has taken further steps into the direction of a "Ceramics City Kellinghusen" with this initiative.
