Weber’s drawing „Das Verhängnis“ (Fate) from 1931, which appeared in the brochure „Hitler - ein deutsches Verhängnis“ (Hitler - a German Fate) by E. Niekisch, is world-famous. It expresses his foresight of the threatening catastrophe of the Second World War. But there are about 300 other drawings, woodcuts, oil paintings and especially lithographs by the satirical graphic artist A. Paul Weber to be discovered.
The funny animal pictures, the book illustrations on e.g. “Reineke Fuchs” (Reynard the Fox), the cheerful and vicious sheets on art and the art scene, the chess games between historical characters, the “Eulenspiegel” motifs, the critical works by which Weber denounces social and political defects and condemns war and violence, a cycle of prisoner pictures and the vividly warning drawings on the destruction of our environment are well worth a visit. In addition, a lithographer’s workshop that is still able to operate can be visited.
