The Geological and Mineralogical Museum in Kiel provides an insight into the subject of geosciences. Among other things, various minerals, rocks, meteorites and fossils are presented. The structure and development of the earth and living creatures are explained on the basis of the collection items. Special emphasis is placed on the regional geology of northern Germany and the Baltic Sea region. Furthermore, various fields of application of the geosciences are presented.

With its offerings, the museum aims to appeal not only to students but also to interested members of the public. Therefore, special exhibitions are regularly prepared and the permanent exhibition is reorganised. Guided tours and events for kindergartens, schools or other groups can be arranged in German or English.
