The city museum is located in the oldest still preserved noble residence from the early 17th century in the middle of the old part of Kiel. The impressive masonry with the original preserved sandstone portal, the historical rooms and the vaulted cellar are worth seeing.
Changing exhibitions on the town and cultural history of the 19th and 20th century as well as on critical graphics and arts and crafts are shown on the three floors of the Warleberger Hof. The permanent exhibition on maritime history is housed in the maritime museum of Kiel.
