In the former engine shed in Aumühle (close to Hamburg) steam engines for the suburban traffic from Hamburg to Büchen were stationed. Today the ‘Verein Verkehrsamateure und Museumsbahn e.V.’ (registered association of the friends of public transport and the museum train) presents historical railway vehicles there. The same association runs a museum train in Schönberg north of Kiel.
On the site of the museum there is a narrow-gauge track system, which is in use at the weekends. An exhibition on the tramway of Hamburg is shown in the suburban railway 1624. A remarkable exhibit is the double-deck-trailer no. 56 from the former narrow-gauge railway Altrahlstedt-Volksdorf-Wohldorf. |
