Stanislav Libenský (1921–2002) und Jaroslava Brychtová (1924–2020), geboren in der damaligen Tschechoslowakei, zählen zu den wichtigsten Pionieren der modernen Glasplastik. Das Künstlerpaar erhielt erstmals internationale Anerkennung auf der Weltausstellung 1958 in Brüssel. Sie entwickelten die geschmolzene Glasplastik zu einer innovativen, eigenständigen künstlerischen Ausdrucksform. Ihre Arbeiten inspirierten Künstler weltweit, darunter die amerikanischen Künstler Littleton und Chihuly. Libenský lehrte 24 Jahre als Professor an der Akademie für Kunst, Architektur und Design in Prag und prägte dort Generationen von Glaskünstlern.
