Am 3. Januar 2026 jährt sich die große Sturmflut von 1976 zum 50. Mal. In vielen Teilen der Nordseeküste kam es dabei zu erheblichen Zerstörungen und zu den höchsten bis dato gemessenen Pegelständen.
Aus diesem Anlass zeigt das Dithmarscher Landesmuseum in Kooperation mit dem Landesbetrieb für Küstenschutz, Nationalpark und Meeresschutz Schleswig- Holstein (LKN.SH) eine Ausstellung zur Sturmflut 1976, die sich mit dem Flutereignis, aber auch mit der Entwicklung des Küstenschutzes befasst.
Unterstützt wird das Projekt vom Verein für Dithmarscher Landeskunde und dem Offenen Kanal Westküste.
