Description
The local history museum is located in the oldest town house of Segeberg. It is a half-timbered gabled building from the 16th century with a hallway that runs lengthwise in the middle of the building. After restoration in 1963 and 1964 it was furnished in the manner of a town house from the 18th century.
The exhibition comprises household equipment and furniture from the 17th to 19th century, tools from craftsmen who worked in Segeberg and toys. Items made of anhydrite from the limestone hill in Segeberg document the most obvious characteristics of the town which houses the Karl May open-air theatre.

Today, the Old Segeberg Town House is one of the few remaining town houses from the early modern period in a small town in Schleswig-Holstein. In its historical rooms, the museum of local history and culture presents exhibits on the everyday life and work of the middle classes during the 19th and 20th centuries.
