Mit der Borghese-Vase schuf der Hersteller Josiah Wedgwood ein wahrhaftes Spiegelbild der Antike. Die Kraterform und die Reliefdarstellung in Weiß auf Blau gehen auf ein berühmtes antik-römisches Marmororiginal von 1,71 m Höhe zurück, das sich über 150 Jahre in der Sammlung der des römischen Adelsgeschlechts Borghese befand.
