Das Motiv zeigt eine Ansicht auf die Anlagen am Hamburger Hafen. Von 1946 bis 1964 kann die Landschaftsmalerei als das hauptsächliche Betätigungsfeld Duwes gelten. Hervorzuheben sind hierbei die Trümmerbilder und die Hamburger Hafenlandschaften, die mit merklicher künstlerischer Zielsetzung gearbeitet sind. Das Bild zeichnet sich durch seine kräftige Farbigkeit, eine aufgelockerte Malweise und einen dynamischen Pinselstrich aus.
